I was that self-absorbed 20-something that had it all. When I got married in my thirties with two kids I failed to see that instead of the selfish happiness I had aspired to for many years. With a family fulfillment comes from giving, not for approval, but out of love and compassion. It may be too late for me, but I hope to pass this message on to my kids one day. Thanks for the post.
